You would struggle to find a player in the Vikings locker room more upbeat than left guard Dalton Risner. He carries himself with a sense of joy everywhere he goes, and naturally, that follows him onto the field. There was a particular play last Sunday in Atlanta that served as a perfect example. After tight end T.J. Hockenson fought his way for extra yardage after catching a pass up the left sideline, Risner was the first player there to pick him up. He had sprinted down the field so he could be in position to do just that.“That’s who he is,” head coach Kevin O’Connell said. “It’s energy all the time. He’s just one of those guys. I knew when we brought him here that he would be a guy that would really thrive in this environment.”That’s exactly what Risner has done since signing as a free agent. After biding his time as a backup, Risner worked his way into the starting lineup last month when former starting left guard Ezra Cleveland suffered a foot...State volleyball: New Life Academy falls to Russell-Tyler-Ruthton in Class A semifinal

Coach Jared Bednar did not have an update on Lehkonen after the game but said his concern level is high anytime a player goes to the hospital. There were no updates on Lehkonen’s condition as of Friday afternoon, but a team spokesman did say Thursday night that he was alert, responsive and had full movement after skating off the ice with some assistance.“He’s obviously one of the toughest guys on our team. The numbers at this point are well-established, but they jump off the page nonetheless. In Denver’s first four games, opponents scored an average of 40 points per game. The historic blowout in Miami tilted those numbers, but even without that 70-point blight, still the Broncos ranked near the bottom of the NFL.Over the team’s past three games — two of them against vaunted Kansas City — the performance has swung dramatically. Vance Joseph’s group has allowed just 15 points per game. A more manageable 331 yards per game allowed. The Chiefs and Packers scored just three red zone touchdowns in 11 trips, vaulting the Broncos to No. 11 in the NFL for the season at 50% touchdowns allowed.Players have the ultimate say, of course, but they give ample credit to Joseph’s steady demeanor in helping engineer the turnaround.“One thing about VJ, he’s always positive no matter what goes on,” cornerback Pat Surtain II said. “He’s very confident in us and in this scheme.
