AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Democratic Gov. Janet Mills signed a bill into law Wednesday that expands access to abortions later in pregnancy in Maine, joining a half-dozen states that leave it to doctors and patients to make the decision without restrictions on timing.The new law allows abortions at any time if deemed medically necessary by a doctor, making the law one of the nation’s least restrictive. The old law banned abortions after a fetus becomes viable outside the womb, at roughly 24 weeks, but allowed an exception if the patient’s life is at risk. Mills said during her reelection campaign that the old law didn’t need to be changed. DENVER (KDVR) — A man died after witnesses say he fell while climbing at Rock Park in Castle Rock.The Town of Castle Rock said fire rescue crews were called to the park at 8 p.m. Tuesday.Witnesses at the Rock Park told crews they saw a man fall while climbing. Castle Rock Fire and Rescue located the man who had died from his injuries.Castle Rock police are investigating. It is not known what factors led to the man's fall. DENVER (KDVR) — Thanks to the quick actions of a Douglas County Sheriff's Office technician, $20,000 was returned to an older resident who fell victim to a scam that nearly took their life savings.DCSO received a call from the resident, who said they mailed $20,000 in cash to a suspicious person. DENVER (KDVR) -- On Monday, a Boulder deputy saved an adorable pug from a stolen vehicle. Deputy Black fostered the pup in his patrol car until the dog was reunited with his family. The rescue mission came with some mischievous complications. While Black was on dog watch, the little guy hit the emergency button on Black’s mobile computer and turned off the radio so the deputy couldn’t hear the status checks. A home in West Park went up in flames. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the area of Southwest 36th Court and 56th Avenue at around 7 p.m., Tuesday.The homeowners called 911 after they returned back and saw their house on fire.
