California leaders are throwing more than a quarter-billion dollars in state grants to more than four dozen state law enforcement agencies up and down the state to aid their fight against organized retail theft and other types of property crime.Oakland police won’t see a cent of it.In a stunning oversight, city officials failed to meet the deadline for submitting an application to the Board of State and Community Corrections. So they were not among the list of 34 police departments, seven sheriff’s offices and 13 district attorney’s offices that will be receiving about $267 million in state grants.According to city spokesperson Sean Maher, Oakland’s Economic & Workforce Development Department did not submit the application on time after Oakland police and community partners put it together.“Obviously, this outcome is unacceptable,” Maher said in a statement. “The city and department are reviewing everything that happened to ensure it doe...DC prosecutors seek ‘narrow’ gag order over Trump’s attacks

By Eric Tucker | Associated PressWASHINGTON — Federal prosecutors in the case charging Donald Trump with scheming to overturn the 2020 presidential election are seeking an order that would restrict the former president from “inflammatory” and “intimidating” comments about witnesses, lawyers and the judge.Special counsel Jack Smith’s team said in a motion filed Friday that such a “narrow, well-defined” order was necessary to preserve the integrity of the case and to avoid prejudicing potential jurors.“Since the grand jury returned an indictment in this case, the defendant has repeatedly and widely disseminated public statements attacking the citizens of the District of Columbia, the Court, prosecutors, and prospective witnesses,” prosecutors wrote. “Through his statements, the defendant threatens to undermine the integrity of these proceedings and prejudice the jury pool.”They said Trump’s efforts to weaken faith...Here’s how much it costs to see Ed Sheeran at Levi’s Stadium

(KTLA) -- Traffic congestion in San Francisco and other metropolitan areas is simply a way of life, but a new study finds that the usual rush hour traffic jams aren't as bad in the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic. The study, conducted by the University of North Carolina, found that, while traffic plunged to record lows during the height of the pandemic, overall traffic has returned to its pre-pandemic levels. But even with the same number of drivers on the road, rush hour traffic isn't as bad as it was prior to the pandemic. Traffic moves along U.S. Highway 101 towards downtown San Francisco on November 27, 2019 in San Francisco, California. (CNN) — Almost four decades after he first appeared on television screens, Frasier Crane is back–and he’s basically the same, albeit with a new skyline. The first full trailer for the reboot of the hit ’90s sitcom “Frasier” was released by Paramount+ on Thursday, offering more details of the series, which sees Kelsey Grammer return to play the titular character 30 years after the original show first aired.Set in Boston, the city in which the world was first introduced to Frasier, the trailer shows him attempting to reconnect with his now adult son Freddy, played by Jack Cutmore-Scott, and moving from Seattle in the hope of mending their relationship. But, in keeping with Frasier’s character, it proves difficult, as the pompous psychiatrist arrives at his son’s house unannounced and later forbids him to sit on a couch covered with expensive Christian Lacroix cushions.Scenes from the new trailer also show Frasier sitting in a bar, drinking beer, and feeling “amalgamated with the hoi pol...Orioles icon Adam Jones officially retires with Baltimore: ‘I’m forever grateful’

Adam Jones’ on-field mark in Baltimore came in center field at Camden Yards. But it’s in the opposite direction from home plate that Jones has twice cemented the city as his “second home.”Inside the ballpark’s auxiliary clubhouse — the same room he signed a then-franchise-record contract extension in 2012 — Jones officially retired with the Orioles on Friday, as he and executive vice president and general manager Mike Elias each signed four pages of a one-day contract.Jones, 38, spent 11 of his 14 major league seasons with Baltimore before ending his playing career with two seasons in Japan. He ranks among the franchise leaders in several categories, hitting more home runs at Camden Yards than any other batter and serving as a team leader during the Orioles’ most successful run of the past quarter century.“Baltimore has a special part in my heart,” Jones said. “I still consistently watched Orioles games everywhere I w...Dorchester Bay City project master plan receives greenlight from BPDA
