Published Fri, 21 Feb 2025 02:47:35 GMT

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — Augusta National crews made quick work disposing of the three towering pine trees that fell near the 17th tee late Friday afternoon during the second round of Masters, forcing postponement of play. All that remained from the uprooted trees Saturday morning, some 18 hours later, was three separate 10-by-10 foot roped off areas and some small wood chips from where workers cut up the trees before hauling them away and filling the holes with dirt. Two of the areas were covered with green gravel and another with pine straw. After second round play resumed, Sergio Garcia strained his head peering over patrons after hitting his tee shot on 17 hoping to catch a glimpse of where the trees once stood.“I was standing on the right side, which is near 17, right by the back right bunker on 16 lining up my putt,” 1987 champion Larry Mize said. “Then all of a sudden, I heard it, and I looked around, and I saw the trees.“I’m thinking, ‘Oh, my gosh, people, get out of there,’” Mize ...

One suspect is still at large.“We are shocked… not only are the victims juveniles, but the murderers are juveniles as well,” Woods said.Last Thursday, a 16-year-old girl was found with gunshot wounds on the side of the road. Layla Silvernai later succumbed to her injuries in an area hospital. The following morning, 17-year-old boy was found fatally shot on the side of the road, and another victim was found in Silvernai’s car, partially submerged in a lake.“Basically, in simple terms there is no honor among thieves, and at some point, these three individuals turned on our three victims and murdered them,” Woods said.Investigators believe the arrested suspects, Robert Robinson, 17, and Christopher Atkins, 12, were involved in burglaries with the victims, with potential ties to criminal gangs. Seasonable Easter weekend, warmer next week

Published Fri, 21 Feb 2025 02:47:35 GMT

7Weather – Our Saturday started off chilly. The April sunshine got to work and quickly got us above freezing. How about the wind? It’s still out there, just not as strong as yesterday. A slight northwest breeze will make it feel cooler this morning. We still have a really dry airmass in place so it’ll feel crisp today. Highs reach the upper 40s/low 50s. The Cape and Islands stay in the mid/upper 40s with the breeze coming off the cool ocean water.Have the jacket with you as you walk around the city before and after the Bruins game. Temperatures will drop quickly tonight.Overnight, we’ll have mainly clear skies and light wind. That’ll help drop temperatures below freezing once again. It’ll be a frosty start for your Easter egg hunts tomorrow morning.High pressure builds overhead tomorrow. That’ll bring us a bright blue sky and light wind. The wind will be light enough that’ll it initiate a seabreeze along the coast. Temperatures stay co...

This time, to qualify for the playoffs, the Nets had to build a brand-new foundation on the drop of a dime — with an identity oppo...
