By Ariane de Vogue and Devan Cole | CNNThe Supreme Court on Monday announced a code of conduct in an attempt to bolster the public’s confidence in the court after months of news stories alleging that some of the justices have been skirting ethics regulations.In a brief statement the justices said that the code is “substantially derived” from an existing code of conduct that applies to the lower court but has been adapted to the “unique institutional setting of the Supreme Court.”However, the justices fail to explain how the code would work, who would enforce it and acknowledged they had more work to do, including on financial disclosures.The court acknowledged it might need additional resources to “perform initial and ongoing review of recusal and other ethics issues.”The absence of a code “has led in recent years to the misunderstanding that the Justices of this Court, unlike all other jurists in this country, regard themselves as unrestricted by any ethics rules,” the justices sai...Photos: Fire under I-10 in Los Angeles shuts freeway down

Interstate 10 remained shut down Monday following a fire beneath it over the weekend. More than 160 firefighters battled the blaze as it spread across a length of about six football fields. The cause of the three-hour fire is still under investigation; no injuries were reported.Commuters were urged to find alternate routes, with significant delays expected for the foreseeable future.“The mile-long I-10 closure between Alameda Street and Santa Fe Avenue will have ripple effects on surface streets and other key freeways including State Route 60 and Interstate 5, the California Highway Patrol said,” according to the Associated Press.“Officials couldn’t yet offer a timeline for when the highway might reopen.”On Sunday, Gov. FREMONT — A suspect was arrested Sunday night in a shooting earlier in the day the left one man dead and another man wounded, police said Monday.Police did not say if the suspect is a man or woman or provide any other information about them.No information has been released yet about the men shot, including their ages, residences and if they knew each other. The identity of the person killed has also not been released.The shooting happened about 4 p.m. Sunday in the 34000 block of Fremont Boulevard.Police found two men shot. They were taken to a hospital, where one of them died.A motive for the shooting has not been released.Police have not yet said how they were able to identify the suspect, where they made the arrest or if the suspect knew the victims.This is a developing report. The Bay Area maintains its status as the most expensive metropolitan area in the U.S.Bay Area ZIP codes made up 37 of the top 100 most expensive ZIP codes in the country, according to a new 2023 ranking by real estate data firm PropertyShark that looked at median sales prices.Unsurprisingly, Atherton’s 94027 ranked at the top of the list for the seventh year in a row, with an eye-popping median sales price of $8.3 million, an increase of 5% from last year’s $7.9 million.
