SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — In a red hooded sweatshirt, hard hat and a pair of well-loved work boots, LaSonia Mansfield heads out alongside her daughter and forewoman, Deja Stocks, to survey the expansive construction site she is responsible for keeping safe and clean. For the next hour, they methodically check various spots as workers go about their days. There’s action everywhere around them, including a crane in the distance bringing down loads of heavy materials. When Mansfield lost her mother more than 10 years ago, she realized it was time to make a choice that would build her future — and, now, she thanks the Golden State Warriors for supporting her through a major career change.“I knew I was going to be an entrepreneur, I’ve had dreams of a two-piece suit and a briefcase for years,” said Mansfield, who typically oversees the operation from her office. “I was just looking at all the construction going up, and we clean well, but I never knew the business of con...Bengals’ Joe Mixon pleads not guilty to menacing charge

CINCINNATI (AP) — Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a misdemeanor charge of aggravated menacing over allegations that he threatened and pointed a gun at a woman in Cincinnati earlier this year.Mixon made his initial court appearance in Hamilton County Municipal Court, where bond was set at $10,000. He was ordered to have no contact with the woman.A warrant for Mixon was initially issued in February but was dismissed the next day. On April 7, Cincinnati police announced they had refiled the charge “following the discovery of new evidence during the investigative process,” but did not provide further details. When the warrant was issued Feb. 2, a police officer’s accompanying affidavit alleged that the 26-year-old pointed a firearm and told the victim: “You should be popped in the face. I should shoot you, the police (can’t) get me.” The warrant then also said the altercation happened a few blocks from the Bengals’ stadium on Jan. 21 — the day b...Apple Podcasts – Top New Shows

Long days are ahead as people work to cleanup their community after historic floods damaged their homes. The Federal Emergency Management Agency responded to a Fort Lauderdale neighborhood to assess the damage, Wednesday. “Thank God they’re here because it’s been a week, it’s been seven days since this flood,” said Anna Rysedorph whose neighborhood flooded. There is now help for people who need it most. “We’ve seen a lot of people who had their lives turned upside down by this,” said John Mills, FEMA. “It is just heartbreaking some of the situations that we’re seeing here.”It is still a lengthy process with FEMA only being a part of the recovery. “FEMA individual assistance is only designed to help jump start survivors’ recovery, to give them a hand up on some basic human needs,” Mills said. WASHINGTON — Volkswagen has become the first non-U.S. brand to have an electric vehicle qualify for the Biden administration’s new tax credit for non-fossil-fuel cars and trucks, the Treasury Department said Wednesday. The news came two days after the administration unveiled a list of qualifying vehicle models that consisted entirely of U.S.-based brands such as Ford, General Motors and Tesla. And it could ease some of the transatlantic trade tensions that have reigned since last summer over the protectionist aspects of the United States’ clean-energy incentives. The list may expand further as other automakers excluded from the tax break find ways to meet the U.S. eligibility requirements, which include mandates that specific percentages of the batteries’ critical parts or minerals come from the United States or a close trading partner. BMW, Volvo, Hyundai and Nissan were among the companies whose vehicles failed to make the cut this week.Volkswag...Latest news
