ST. LOUIS - Joe Mason’s timeshare trouble in Branson, Missouri, started innocently enough.“When we first signed up for this, this isn’t a timeshare. We’re a vacation package, you know, a destination kind of package," Mason said. "We’re not a timeshare at all. They preached that to us 100 different times.”The Topeka, Kansas, resident is now fighting to get out of the deal.“You broke the contract with us. We want our money back. And they won’t listen to us," Mason said. "They won’t do anything about it. They’re just, keep paying us; you’re stuck in it. That’s it.”Stories like Mason’s are peppered throughout the latest Better Business Bureau investigation into timeshares and vacation clubs. An 18-year-old high school student and his 14-year-old sister were arrested Wednesday at Ramona High School in Riverside, authorities announced. According to the Riverside Police Department, the high school’s assigned resource officer was assisting staff with “some student unrest near the end of the lunch break,” at around 1 p.m., in which a fight had broken out between a couple of kids. The incident resulted in the school being put into a “lockout,” officials added. Police said that one student, an 18-year-old male, refused to comply with directions from school administrators and the school’s resource officer. When the officer attempted to detain the student, he resisted. “While addressing the situation, that student’s sister attacked the officer, which required a call for additional police officers to help take both students into custody,” police said in a social media post. The 18-year-old was later booked into jail for resisting arrest, while his 14-year-...Single family residence sells in Hayward for $1.8 million

This week marked the first week that morning and afternoon rush hour commuters were faced with a new temporary traffic pattern on the George Washington Parkway, and the new configuration has led to some confusion among drivers. That’s because those driving into Maryland must enter the right center lane, three miles before their exit, while motorists in the center lane are only routed on the Capital Beltway to go further into Virginia.WTOP Traffic Reporter Dave Dildine who has been watching the impact of the traffic pattern change said it has led to drivers learning the hard way that they got into the wrong lane.“What we were watching is a lot of erratic driving over the flex posts of the last minute and switching lanes abruptly,” Dildine said.Dildine said thankfully it hasn’t led to any big crashes, as drivers acclimate to the changes. The temporary three-lane configuration on the northbound side is in place, so construction crews can completely rehabilitate the southbound lanes, whic...Report: 85% of tickets issued for passing stopped school buses in Montgomery Co. were issued to school bus drivers

In a report following an examination of the use of school-issued cards for purchases, Montgomery County’s Inspector General Megan Davey Limarzi found that 1,622 traffic citations were issued to school employees who were operating school vehicles. And of those issued citations, 1,062 were given to school transportation employees. According to the report, the 1,622 citations included fines totaling $155,174.Limarzi said it was logical that school transportation employees would have more citations than other employees. “Of course, the buses are on the road all day, every day,” she said. But in the report, Limarzi said what was alarming was that 85% of the citations issued for passing stopped school buses with their stop-arms extended were issued to other school bus drivers — 330 of the 386 stop-arm camera violations were by bus drivers. The data covers a period from July 1, 2015, to January of 2023.Limarzi noted in her report that the use of the purchase cards, or P-cards, to ...Latest news
