Gasoline prices in California edged higher again on Tuesday, hitting an average of $5.84 per gallon - a little over a penny more than Monday’s average, according to the American Automobile Association (AAA).Drivers in metro Los Angeles are paying an average of $6.14/gallon, nearly 80 cents more than a month ago and 30 cents more than a year ago as gas prices tread dangerously close to L.A.'s all-time record of $6.50/gallon from October 2022.For comparison, drivers in southern states such as Mississippi, Georgia, Louisiana, South Carolina and Alabama only pay around $3.30/gallon.So why are gas prices spiking now? And why do Californians always pay more?In the short term, AAA says global oil prices have risen to more than $90 per barrel while demand also continues to rise. At the same time, domestic gas stock has declined slightly. So, some of this can be attributed to the basic economic law of supply and demand. However, in Southern California, experts say regional -and political- fact...4 suspects busted during commercial burglary series

Although she was new to Tennessee, the 23-year old physical therapy student, whose mother called her “Sweet Alyssa,” had already made many close connections, especially within the tight-knit cycling community around Nashville — before she was killed this month, struck by a pickup truck while cycling with a friend.Roadway deaths in the U.S. are mounting despite government test data showing vehicles have been getting safer. While the number of all car-related fatalities has trended upward over the last decade, pedestrians and cyclists have seen the sharpest rise: over 60% between 2011 and 2022.It coincides with a steep increase in sales of SUVs, pickup trucks and vans, which accounted for 78% of new U.S. vehicle sales in 2022, according to Motorintelligence.com.Current U.S. ratings only consider the safety of ...Hunter Biden sues Giuliani, another lawyer over laptop data

SAN LORENZO — A home that caught fire here earlier this month was being used to manufacture large amounts of ketamine, according to Alameda County drug task force agents assigned to investigate the blaze. The fire occurred on Sept. 6 at a home on the 15000 block of Via Media in San Lorenzo, according to police. Inside, authorities reportedly found large flasks, sifters, bags of chemicals and other evidence indicative of a clandestine drug lab.Authorities initially weren’t sure whether they were dealing with a cannabis honey oil manufacturing facility, or something out of Breaking Bad, the TV crime drama about methamphetamine production. But an analyst with the Drug Enforcement Administration finally gave police their answer: it was the dissociative anesthetic ketamine that was being manufactured.Because ketamine disconnects people from reality, it is sometimes taken as a hallucinogen. Users commonly refer to it colloquially — but not accurately — as “hor...Latest news
