Officials call for Ardila to resign amid sexual assault allegations

ALBANY, N.Y. (WTEN) -- Governor Hochul along with some state lawmakers are calling on Democratic Assembly member Juan Ardila of Queens to resign after accusations of sexual assault. Ardila only took office this past January. "He is offering an apology… However, a lot of times an apology does not necessarily equate to accountability," said Amanda Rue, a sexual harassment prevention expert. According to The Queens Chronicle, two women have come forward with allegations stating that Ardila sexually assaulted them at a party in October of 2015. Eight years before he joined the Assembly. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An Albany man has pleaded guilty in connection with a stabbing death that took place in 2017. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- On Friday, Elijah Moses, 28, of Albany, was sentenced to a determinate term of 13 years in State Prison. Moses will also serve five years of post-release supervision. ST. LOUIS - One southern Illinois mayor is leading a push to build a highway that could connect the St. Louis region to many rural parts of the state. FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. - Federal investigators seized $24,000 in a suspected cryptocurrency scam that targeted at least one Metro East resident. No criminal charges have been filed as of Friday, and no suspect information is available. One month prior, the victim had communicated with a Twitter account unbeknownst to her, which was impersonating a cryptocurrency influencer.The fraudster instructed her to deposit more than $32,000 worth of Bitcoin into a “3Twarriorstrading.com” account. By the time the victim realized the website was a scam, she could not retrieve the cryptocurrency.While the victim lost around $32,000, feds could only recover around $24,000 worth of currency.
